11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.(Abraham, Isaac, Jacob)
God's warning then is God's warning now: Keep him first! Seek him first! Wealth is just one of the "blessings" of the Covenant...as it is this day(present tense, continuous!).
“But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth…”
It’s clear this verse is talking about YOU. Now that should make YOU shout HALLELUJAH!
FIRST, remember the Lord your God.
Unfortunately, as many believers become successful they forget . . .how they got where they are.
I understand that you may have worked hard to get where you are. . .but I also know that it was the Lord who gave you. . .a brain to think with. . .the strength of body to work. . . the health to function properly. . .and the skills to create possibilities.
In short, we are who we are and where we are because of who is in us. It’s His ability working through us we hardly have any reason to boast.
We tend to forget why we are where we are . . .even those who’ve helped and blessed us along the way.
SECOND, 'He gives thee.'
God is giving to you. . .the keys to the Kingdom.
Without question, He is giving you the power to get wealth.
God is giving the power to get wealth to you. . .just as surely as He does to: Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Bill Winston, or Leroy Thompson. or for that matter, Warren Buffet or Donald Trump.
God is giving each of us the opportunity. . .the power to get wealth.
And yes, He’ll do for you what He does for anyone else. . .He has to.
Acts 10:34 says:
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.”
The New International Version says:
“Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.”
The Message Bible translation is even clearer:
“Peter fairly exploded with his good news: "It's God's own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you're from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open.”
I have read Acts 10:34 in thirteen different translations and I have not seen any sort of asterisk or footnote indicating that this scripture doesn’t apply to everybody on planet earth.
God is empowering and enlightening you to know beyond a shadow of a doubt. . .that He’s giving you gift contained in Deuteronomy 8:18.
THIRD, it’s a gift!
A gift is something you give.
According to Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for giveth is nathan (H5414) which means: “give; to be given.”
Have you every received a gift from your parents…spouse…children…best friend or anyone else?
Why do you think they wanted to give you a gift?
The person giving the gift wanted to bless you.
What kind of gifts does our Heavenly Father want to give each of us.
Matthew 7:11 in the Amplified Bible says:
“If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!”
What kind of gifts does your Heavenly Father want to give you?
Good gifts. . .advantageous gifts.
I James 1:17 says: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
Would you consider having the funds to pay off all your debts an advantageous gift?
Would you consider walking in divine health an advantageous gift?
Would you consider living in peace an advantageous gift?
Giving you the power to get wealth is most certainly an advantageous gift.
FOURTH, God is giving you the POWER to get wealth.
The Hebrew word for power in Deuteronomy 8:18 is koach (H3581) means:
“strength, power, might; strength (of angels; and the power (of God)”
I’m about to speak a five-word sentence. . .the reality of which can change your life forever. Here it is: “God is giving you power.”
Acts 1:8 says:
“… ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you … (then) ye shall become witnesses … .”
The power Jesus promises after the Holy Ghost comes upon you in enabling power .
The Greek word for power is dunamis which means “ability.”
So let’s look at this verse again as I expand the paraphrase for you. “You shall receive the ability after the Holy Ghost has come upon you, and you will be able to witness of me simultaneously in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”
God is giving each of us power. . .and not just any power. . .His resurrection power.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11). . .is being loosed into your finances. Now that power ought to make your checking account pop.
If you’re not taping into God’s Power Source. . .the answer could be found in the Matthew 22:29 in the New International Version says:
“Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.”
FIFTH, God is giving you the power to get WEALTH.
Deuteronomy 8:18 in the Amplified Bible says:
“But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
God is giving you the power. . .to pray a nice prayer
God is giving you a heart for those less fortunate. But if you’re broke all you can do is wish them a better life.
Wealth and wisdom go hand in hand.
Ecclesiastes 7:11-12 in the Message Bible says:
“Wisdom is better when it's paired with money, Especially if you get both while you're still living. Double protection: wisdom and wealth! Plus this bonus: Wisdom energizes its owner.”
Now, let’s look at Deuteronomy 8:18 in the New International Version which says:
“Always remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you power to become rich, and he does it to fulfill the covenant he made with your ancestors.”
Why does He want you to be rich…..to fulfill the covenant He made to our forefathers
Deuteronomy 8:18 in the New International Version says:
“But remember the Lord your God. He gives you the ability to produce wealth. That shows he stands by the terms of his covenant. He promised it with an oath to your people long ago. And he’s still faithful to his covenant today.”
The New Living Translation says: “. . . in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.”
God has given us the ability…the power to get wealth. . .to get rich for a purpose.
What does it mean to be rich? Webster’s Intercollegiate Dictionary defines “rich” as “having abundant possessions, especially material wealth.”
God wants us to be abundantly blessed. . .so we can bless others.
Genesis 12:2 in the Amplified Bible says:
“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].”
King Solomon, who asked for wisdom and knowledge to rule was given Wealth and Riches because of being the seed of Abraham through the lineage of his Father, King David. He said:
Ecclesiastes 7:12, 10:19
12 For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom gives life to them that have it.
19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes merry: but money answers all things.
GOD HONORS, IS MINDFUL OF, AND HAS COMMANDED HIS COVENANT FOREVER!
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
Wealth and Riches are the fruits of how God establishes his Covenant. Take a special note how God says he gives the "power" to get wealth, not, I give you wealth, but, the "POWER TO GET WEALTH!"
The wealth could come through an idea, a business, an investment, an inheritance, or any number of ways, as, God has a million ways to get wealth to us, but, all he needs is "one!" We saw earlier how Abraham, Lot, Isaac, Jacob, Esau, Joseph, were all wealthy as a result of the Covenant. The Covenant is so powerful that it even made slaves rich! Observe this:
23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and he had respect unto them. You know why? He had to because he had already sworn to Abraham and God cannot lie!
Wealth in slavery because of the Covenant:
11 And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.
3 And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
Now, why in the world would God tell them to borrow jewels of silver and jewels of gold, and they are in bondage and about travel on foot??......because the "Abrahamic Covenant" has to produce visible wealth! It is loaded with the Power To Get Wealth, but, you must believe that, agree with God, think it, believe it, speak it, act it, and then you''ll experience it!
33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.
34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.
35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
36 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
This was a "wealth transfer!" because of their Covenant with God, and we have the same Covenant!
22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.(God gave the wealth of the Egyptians to his people by giving them favor).
Don't let the devil deceive you and steal from you by forfeiting your covenant right of wealth and success! After all, if God didn't and doesn't want his people wealthy, why in the world would he "give us the power to get wealth in the first place!?
